Willie Rueda

Guillermo Rueda is a District of Columbia architect and an enthusiast of the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier (SCWT) since 1987. He enjoys show grooming and competition in conformation events, having exhibited and judged dogs in the US and abroad. Breeding terriers under the Trébol prefix, he has produced specialty winners and champions in the US and overseas, often in partnership with fellow breeders.

For years, Guillermo’s focus has been on the SCWT. A SCWTCA member in 1994, he has served on various committees and as a Board Director. As an early proponent of genetic testing, he worked on the Board of the SCWT Genetic Research Foundation for more than 15 years, managing funds used for support of genetic-based health research. He pioneered the first online database (scwtpeds.com) of Soft Coated Wheaten pedigrees, photos and health information extending back to the first recorded SCWT’s in Ireland; his efforts culminating in the Red Hat Challenge Fund for the Endowment’s Online Database, a partnership with the SCWTGRF to foster continued collaboration towards the longevity of the SCWT.
